Eighth graders study the geography, economic and government structures and cultures of locations around the world.  The class uses World Geography by Holt, Rinehart and Winston.

End of Week 23:  Thursday, February 14, 2019

Students finished learning about Eastern Europe and took a test on Thursday.  Enjoy President's Day on Monday and I'll see you on Tuesday.

End of Week 22:  Friday, February 8, 2019

Students took a political map quiz on Eastern Europe and learned about the Soviet Union's control over these countries during the Cold War.  Friday was our usual world current event day.

End of Week 21:  Friday, February 1, 2019

Students started their unit on Europe with a special emphasis on Eastern Europe.

End of Week 20:  Friday, January 25, 2019

Students finished their unit on Russia with a test.  Friday was World Current Event Day.

End of Week 19:  Friday, January 18, 2019

Students practiced using Cornell Notes with a section of their chapter on Russia and gave short presentations about a Russian cultural item.  Friday was our usual World Current Event Assignment.

We started our unit on Russia and completed both the physical and political maps with this area of study.  Friday was our usual World Current Event assignment.

Welcome back to 2019!  Students participated in the preliminary rounds of the National Geographic Geography Bee.  Congratulations to Meghan B. and Zach N. who will represent the 8th grade in the championship rounds for the all school bee.

This week went by quickly.  Students shared about Christmas traditions in different countries.

Students presented their projects on a Latin American.  We discussed the latest events in the world on Friday.

The eighth graders worked on an individual project on a country in Latin America. The information will be presented on Monday.  Friday was our usual World Current Event assignment.

Students finished presentations on Ancient Civilizations of Mexico this week.

This week students worked on and started to present their group projects on the ancient civilizations of Mexico.

Students started their unit on Mexico by completing a map and focusing on their geography.  They also had a world current event assignment.

The 8th graders are continuing their unit on Canada.  They've started a group project on the regions in Canada.

Due to the short week, the eighth graders completed an enrichment assignment about Canada's national sport, hockey and how it has spread in the United States.

Students worked on their Canada maps and had their usual world current event day on Friday.

Students took a quiz on different types of governments and economies.  Thursday and Friday we planned and practiced for the marathon assembly.

Students chose their countries for the end of the year projects and they voted to learn about Canada first.  We also started a populations, government and economies quick study.

Students worked on their group projects about reading different types of maps and started presentations on Thursday.  Friday was our usual World Current Event day.
